Regrettable literary experiments

There's a teen novel written as a blog.

Okay. After a few minutes of literary "NnnGAH!", I can accept that. There's been a teen novel set on a message board, so surely a blog is a step up.

And then I read the excerpt. And it's dishwater. It reads like it was written by a middle-aged woman who never saw an LJ meme before and thought they were so! revealing!
Favorite music: Alternative, emo, techno, rock, and rap. Some headbanger stuff. My tastes fluctuate with my moods. I don't often follow the trends. Currently love Headlock, Zara, and Dis. Mainstream like Missy Elliot and Ludacris. Getting a little interested in old stuff like Nirvana and Ozzy (loved his documentary too).
...Yes, thank you, I know the heroine so much better now.

With any luck, someone will come along and do a decent job with the format, and then there'll be a brief spate of blog novels before the fad burns itself out and falls into the literary hell that is currently being prepared for it.

(The flames are stoked with copies of Pamela.)

Sure, I'll sign on.

"It's the 1970's, we're wearing nothing but polyester, and we're so very, very hot and uncomfortable--but damn, we look good. Come, join us on our rip-roaring fantasy of freedom on the high seas that culminates in alien abduction!"

Bless you, Styx.
