satyr, drool you bastards, bosom
Here's the selection of Lube Sheep bento boxes I have for sale:

Top row, left to right: Putifresh Lube Sheep Muscat grape box with clear cover; apple box; muscat box with solid cover.

Middle row: Banana box; Mink the Monkey box; self-closing banana box; yellow flower box.

Bottom row: Mink the Monkey snack box (stacks to form a full-size bento box); self-closing muscat snack box.

All of the bento boxes are $3.99 plus shipping. If you want one, email me at r_longfellow at yahoo dawt com. I'll tell you where to Paypal your money (tell me if you want to work something else out) and then bill you for shipping after I send you the box.

Shipping will include the cost of the container. Sorry. Going into mail business has made me realize what "shipping and handling" really means.

If you want something that doesn't appear in the picture, like matching chopsticks, bag, furoshiki (wrapping cloth), cup, bento band (colors not guaranteed), sushi grass, onigiri molds, food cups, etc., tell me. I make weekly runs to Kam Man and can look for most anything.

Bento menu for Tuesday: Crab cake, fried shumai, tiny meat pie, golden tomatoes courtesy of [info]selkiechick, Indian bread rolled up with Forty Spices hummus, and baked apple slices.

As an experiment. There's also Little Gorgeous Things, my incipient bento site, which has a few links to Jbox bento boxes right now.

Hee. Glad you liked the tomatoes. Do you fridge your bento? Cause crab cakes for lunch sounds compelling and decadent, but with no fridge at work... not a good idea. I know Japanese folks eat a lot more things at room temp than we do, with no ill effects.... I am just a touch leery sometimes!

I have a piece of chicken, and some sliced cucumbers. I forgot to throw in any tomatoes.

I do fridge my bento, AND nuke them, both of which are highly nontraditional. The Japanese manage certain foods by cooking them thoroughly with extra spices--the spices retard bacteria growth--and many of the bits and bobs they tuck into bento boxes aren't just for pretty, they're antibacterial. They also avoid packing the most dangerous foods during the hot months. Without the sort of information they have, I'd be leery about packing crab cakes unrefrigerated, too.

Yes, thank you for the tomatoes! They're delicious and fit in all the cracks.

Sliced cukes sound lovely. You'll burp your way through work.

Indeed- Vinegar is an important preservative and lots of those lunches have little pickles things, and sushi rice, which I find is micest at room temp. Must get some sushi rice and rice vinegar!

Kam Man Marketplace in Quincy, MA.

Why do you not exist?

:)

The only thing that required cooking-fu was the tiny meat pie, and that involved throwing a bunch of ingredients in a bowl, mooshing them around, pressing premade pie crust into cupcake tins, jigsawing the scraps of leftover crust into pie lids, and baking. Everything else in the bento was fried or premade.

I <3 Trader Joe's.
